On the Road Again

25 Oct

Yesterday, after a rough night with Adeline, we took off from Boston and headed to Worcester, MA to see Frs. Christakos and Preble of the Facing East podcast.  Matthew has been corresponding with them for some time now, and they both played huge roles in our joining the Orthodox Church.  It was wonderful to see Fr. Christakos’ parish, St. Spyridon Cathedral, and to have lunch with them both.  Unfortunately, I forgot to get a picture of everyone until thirty minutes after saying goodbye! (Actually, this whole post will be without pictures because the camera is in the car and I’m not going out to get it!)

From there we headed to Parsippany, NJ to see our dear friends Kelly and Jerry.  We haven’t seen them since I was about five months along with Adeline, and it was a joy to see them meet her finally!  It was such a blessing to spend the evening with them and just allow Adeline to run around for a bit.  They were generous enough to make up their grandson’s crib for her – she fell asleep in no time!  Unfortunately, the pain of teething is persistent and she woke up often.

This morning was rough, as you might imagine, but we ate, said goodbye, and took off for home.  Adeline took two naps, played, sang, and practiced her sign language (sans DVD).  Our goal was to get out of Pennsylvania and just into Ohio, but she was so good that we got almost all the way through Ohio!  So, we ate dinner, went to Meijer (oh, how I miss having a Meijer close by!), and settled in to our inexpensive but perfectly clean (praise God!) hotel room.  Tomorrow, God willing, we will be home by a decent hour and will be able to get Adeline acclimated to her own home!

So, what a utilitarian post this is!  What a blessing, though, that our trip home has not been more eventful.  Please continue your prayers four our safe travels.  How we are ready to be home!
